Our story

Before the world of Educaqua, there was a simple question.

How can we make children keener to repeat the experiences that help them feel more at ease in the water?

Meet the founders

Educaqua is the story of three swimming enthusiasts. After many years of competing, we became instructors to share our passion with as many people as possible. Together, we have more than a century of swimming experience and over 50 years of teaching swimming, from beginners to competitive swimmers.

Our respective professional backgrounds also include teaching children aged 3 to 12 and training in psychomotor development.

What we have observed

After all these years of teaching swimming, we still see the same difficulties in learning: anxiety around water, fear of going under water, and moving efficiently through the water (getting a good ‘feel’ for it).

Parents, meanwhile, often feel at a loss or poorly equipped to support their children as they learn.

So we asked ourselves a simple question: what kind of toy could be fun while also helping to develop the fundamental skills of swimming? The aim is clearly not to replace lessons taught by an experienced instructor, but to develop fundamental skills that help beginners feel at ease and make learning to swim easier later on. This approach will also help people who can already swim to strengthen certain skills.

Several hundred hours of discussions, prototypes and testing later… Educaqua was born!

The founders

Three personalities,
one shared passion.

The inventor

Alexandre

Meet Alex, our engineering genius with boundless energy and ideas. Seriously, five new ideas a minute! He has loved swimming and diving since he could barely walk, and he is always searching for that special touch that will make a splash and make our toys even more effective and fun. If there is a new feature to test or a wild idea to try, you can bet Alex is already two lengths ahead, sketching it out and wondering: ‘What if we tried this?’ He is the creative whirlwind who keeps us all on our toes!

The artist

Gentiane

Gentiane is our resident artist and early childhood expert. With more than 25 years of experience as a swimming and synchronised swimming coach, she has mastered the art of turning little ones who are afraid of water into confident swimmers. From baby floats to international competitions, she has guided hundreds of children from putting their heads under water to mastering the three basic movements. And as if that were not enough, she is our secret weapon for testing every new game: if it passes her test for fun and practicality, we know it is ready for the pool!

Black-and-white caricature of Oli, a founding member of Educaqua.

The rational thinker

Oli

Oli is our extraordinary expert in swimming technique and the glue that holds our ideas together. While Alex is busy dreaming up wild concepts, Oli is there to pick the best ones and make sure they work – after all, he has spent years as the technical brains behind international swimming teams. His superpower? Making sure our toys do more than entertain: they also develop essential skills in the water. With Oli on board, you can be sure that every Educaqua toy is designed to help children build their confidence in the water, step by step.

The adventure continues

Then Bilibli became more than an object.

Giving the first toy a personality sparked a new idea: instead of creating a series of separate products, why not imagine a world where every new toy becomes a character?
